Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about towing, repossession, impound lot services, and your rights in Minnesota.
How do I get my vehicle back after repossession?
Contact your lender to arrange a release. Once the lender authorizes it, schedule an appointment at our impound lot. Bring a valid photo ID, proof of ownership or lien release, proof of insurance, and payment for any outstanding storage fees.
What are your impound lot hours?
Our impound lot is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and Saturday, 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. We are closed on Sundays. We recommend scheduling an appointment in advance to ensure a smooth visit.
How much does it cost to get my vehicle out of impound?
Fees vary depending on the circumstances of the recovery, the length of storage, and any additional services required. We maintain a transparent fee structure and will provide a full breakdown of costs before you pick up your vehicle. Contact us for a specific quote.
Can I get my personal belongings from my vehicle?
Yes. Minnesota law allows you to retrieve personal belongings from a repossessed vehicle. Schedule a time to come to our lot and collect your items. You'll need a valid photo ID. There is no fee for personal property retrieval.
What areas do you serve in Minnesota?
Alpha Recovery MN serves the entire state of Minnesota. We are based in Minneapolis and regularly operate throughout the Twin Cities metro area, Rochester, Duluth, St. Cloud, Mankato, Moorhead, and all communities in between.
What is voluntary surrender and how does it work?
Voluntary surrender is when a borrower proactively returns the vehicle to the lender, avoiding involuntary repossession. Contact us to arrange a convenient time and location - we can even pick up the vehicle from your location. It's typically less stressful and may have a less negative impact on credit compared to involuntary repossession.
What are my rights during a repossession in Minnesota?
In Minnesota, repossession agents must not breach the peace during a recovery. They cannot use force, threats, or enter a locked garage without permission. You have the right to request the repossession stop if it would cause a breach of peace. After repossession, you must be notified of your right to redeem the vehicle.
Do you work with lenders and financial institutions?
Yes. We partner with banks, credit unions, auto finance companies, and buy-here-pay-here dealers throughout Minnesota. We provide real-time status updates, detailed condition reports, and fully compliant recovery services. Contact us to set up a lender account.
How do I schedule an appointment?
You can schedule an appointment through our online scheduling tool on the Schedule page, or by calling us at (612) 555-1234 during business hours. We recommend booking at least 24 hours in advance.
Do you offer towing services in Minnesota?
Yes. Alpha Recovery MN provides professional recovery towing services throughout Minnesota. Our licensed tow truck operators use flatbed tow trucks to safely transport vehicles for repossession, voluntary surrender, and other recovery operations. We offer statewide towing coverage with 24/7 availability for urgent recoveries.
What type of tow trucks do you use?
We primarily use modern flatbed tow trucks for all vehicle recovery and transport operations. Flatbed towing is the safest method of vehicle transport, preventing any additional wear or damage during transit. Our tow trucks are fully equipped and maintained to handle a wide range of vehicles, from compact cars to full-size trucks and SUVs.
What is skip tracing?
Skip tracing is the process of locating a borrower or asset that is difficult to find. We use advanced databases, public records, and investigative techniques to locate vehicles and borrowers for our lender clients. This service helps recover assets that might otherwise be written off as losses.
